Pinning notes in the Notes hub and Scratchpad sidebar
Last updated: April 30, 2026
Available on: Mac, Windows
Pinning keeps your most important notes at the top of the Notes hub and Scratchpad sidebar, so they stay easy to find as your library grows.
What it is
Pin is a per-note toggle in the Notes hub and Scratchpad sidebar. Pinned notes sort above unpinned notes everywhere they appear, including in search results. A small pin icon on the note card shows which notes are pinned.
How it works
Overview
When you pin a note, it jumps to the top of the list in both the Notes hub and the Scratchpad sidebar. Multiple pinned notes are ordered by when they were pinned.
Key behaviors
Sort order: Pinned notes appear above unpinned notes in the Notes hub, the Scratchpad sidebar, and in search results.
Pin icon: A pin icon on the note card marks any note that is currently pinned.
Auto-clear on delete: Deleting a pinned note removes its pin automatically.
Local only: Pin status is saved on the current device and does not sync across devices.
How to pin and unpin a note
You can pin or unpin a note in two ways: the hover button on the note card, or the note's options menu.
Using the hover button (Notes hub)
Use this when you're browsing the Notes hub and want a one-click pin.
Hover over the note card in the Notes hub.
Click the pin button on the card.
The note moves to the top of the list and shows a pin icon. To unpin, hover the note again and click the pin button a second time.
Using the options menu (Notes hub or Scratchpad sidebar)
Use this in the Scratchpad sidebar, or when you want to pin from the same menu as other note actions.
Hover over the note card to reveal the options.
Open the note's options menu.
Select Pin or Unpin.
The note moves to the top of the list and shows a pin icon.
Note card actions in the Notes hub
The Notes hub note card now shows actions as direct buttons on hover, instead of inside a three-dot menu.
Edit: Opens the note for editing.
Pin / Unpin: Toggles the pin on the note.
Delete: Removes the note. If the note was pinned, the pin is cleared automatically.
Note: The "Copy to clipboard" option that previously lived in the three-dot menu has been removed from the Notes hub card. To copy note content, open the note and select the text.
FAQs
How many notes can I pin?
There is no stated limit. All pinned notes sort above unpinned notes, in the order they were pinned.
Do pinned notes appear at the top when I search?
Yes. Pinned notes sort above unpinned notes in search results, just as they do in the default view.
Do pins sync to my other devices?
No. Pin status is local to the device where you set it. If you use Wispr Flow on multiple devices, pin your notes separately on each one.
