Share Wispr Flow with friends and earn free Pro time. When someone signs up through your referral link, they get a 30-day free trial — and if you're on an eligible paid plan, you earn a free month of Pro for each successful referral.

What it is

The referral program lets you invite others to try Wispr Flow while earning rewards for yourself. Your friend gets a 30-day free trial (instead of the standard 14 days), and you get a free month of Pro once they dictate 2,000 words.

Important: To earn referral rewards, you need a Pro or Student plan (monthly or yearly) purchased through wisprflow.ai. App Store subscribers (including Weekly plan users) and Enterprise members can send invitations and give friends the extended trial, but won't earn rewards themselves.

How it works in Flow

Overview

Share your unique referral link or send an email invitation. When your friend signs up and starts dictating, you both benefit. If you signed up without clicking a referral link, you can also enter a referral code directly in the app.

Key behaviors

  • What your friend gets: A 30-day free trial of Wispr Flow Pro, granted when they sign up through any referral link — regardless of the referrer's plan.

  • What you get: One free month of Pro for each successful referral. For wisprflow.ai (Stripe) subscribers, the reward is applied as a credit on your next billing cycle and may take a short time to process.

  • Activation threshold: Your reward activates once your friend dictates at least 2,000 words. For App Store and Enterprise referrers (who can't earn rewards), the referral is marked complete immediately upon sign-up.

  • Referral statuses: "Not signed up yet" (no account created), "Under 2000 words" (signed up but below threshold), "Complete" or "Upgraded to Pro" (reward applied).

  • Student trial precedence: Students signing up for a Student plan receive a 90-day trial, which takes precedence over the 30-day referral trial.

  • Joining a team while on a referral trial: Your 30-day referral trial is preserved if you join or create a team. Joining a team will never shorten an existing trial.

Best practices

  • Send invitations by email for the highest conversion — your friend gets a direct link and you can track their status.

  • Use reminders if your friend hasn't signed up yet. You can send up to 2 reminders per person, with 24 hours between each.

  • Refer while on the free plan to bank credits. They apply automatically when you upgrade to an eligible paid plan.

How to get your referral link

Mac and Windows

Follow these steps to copy your referral link on desktop:

  1. Click the Wispr Flow icon in your menu bar (Mac) or system tray (Windows).

  2. Click "Get a free month" in the sidebar — look for the gift icon near the bottom. If you're on a Team plan or subscribed through the App Store, this is labeled "Refer a friend."

  3. Copy your unique referral link from the modal that appears. You'll see a confirmation when the link is copied to your clipboard.

  4. Share the link with friends, family, or colleagues.

Tip: You can also send invitations directly by email — enter up to 10 email addresses separated by commas in the referral modal and click Send.

iOS

Follow these steps to copy or share your referral link on iOS:

  1. Open Wispr Flow and tap the menu icon (three lines).

  2. Tap "Get a free month" or "Refer a friend."

  3. Copy your referral link, or tap "Share Invite" to send it via iMessage, WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, Mail, or X (Twitter). Tap "Other apps" for additional sharing options.

Your pending and completed referrals appear on this same screen.

Note: If your referral link doesn't appear, it will load automatically. You can also tap the circular arrow icon next to your link to refresh it manually. A successful refresh produces a brief haptic pulse; if it fails, you'll see an "Unable to refresh referral link" message.

How to apply a referral code

If you signed up without clicking a referral link, you can still enter a referral code directly in the app. This option is only available if you don't already have a referrer.

  1. Open the referral modal using the steps above for your platform.

  2. Click the "Apply referral" tab.

  3. Enter the referral code (for example, "JOHN1") in the field provided.

  4. Submit the code. Once applied, the credit appears on your next billing cycle and the "Apply referral" tab disappears.

How to regenerate your referral code

If you've updated your name and want a referral code that reflects it — or you simply want a fresh link — you can regenerate your code from the referral modal.

  1. Open the referral modal using the steps above for your platform.

  2. Go to the Invite tab.

  3. Click the refresh button next to the "Your invite link" label. A notification confirms whether the regeneration succeeded or failed.

Warning: Your old link stops working for new sign-ups after you regenerate. Anyone you previously referred is automatically updated to your new code, so existing referrals are not lost. Share your new link going forward.

Examples

Referring a colleague on a Pro plan

You have a Pro monthly plan purchased through wisprflow.ai. You copy your referral link and send it to a colleague. They sign up and start dictating. Once they hit 2,000 words, your referral status changes to "Complete" and a free month of Pro is applied to your next billing cycle.

Referring a friend while on the free plan

You're on the free plan. You share your referral link and your friend signs up — they get a 30-day free trial. Your referral credit is tracked. Later, when you upgrade to a Pro plan through wisprflow.ai, that credit is applied and you get a free month.

Applying a referral code after signing up

You signed up for Wispr Flow without clicking a referral link, but a friend gives you their referral code (for example, "JOHN1"). Open the referral modal, click the "Apply referral" tab, enter the code, and submit. The credit is applied to your next billing cycle, and the tab disappears once the code is applied.

Joining a team while on a 30-day referral trial

You signed up through a referral link and are partway through your 30-day free trial. You then join or create a team. Your 30-day trial continues uninterrupted — joining the team will not shorten it.

FAQs

Can I refer people while on the free plan?

Yes. Your friend receives the extended trial benefit, and your earned credits are tracked even before you subscribe. Once you upgrade to an eligible paid plan, your credits are applied automatically.

Is there a limit to how many people I can refer?

No. You can refer as many people as you like and earn a free month of Pro for each successful referral.

I didn't see the referral step during onboarding

Some users see a "Create Team" step during onboarding instead of the referral page, based on their role or industry selection during setup (for example, founders, executives, directors, or managers who aren't already on a team). You can still access your referral link at any time through the sidebar.

My friend signed up but I didn't get credit

Check these common causes:

  • They didn't use your link: Referrals are only tracked when someone creates an account through your link or email invitation. If they signed up without one, they can still enter your referral code manually in the app.

  • They haven't reached 2,000 words yet: Your reward activates once your friend dictates at least 2,000 words. Until then, the referral shows as pending.

  • They were referred by someone else: A person can only be referred by one user.

  • You're not on an eligible plan: App Store subscribers and Enterprise members can send invitations but won't earn rewards. You need a Pro or Student plan purchased through wisprflow.ai.

How do I track my referrals?

Open the referral screen in the app. On desktop, the referral modal shows how many months you've earned. On iOS, you'll see a summary of referrals, months earned, and the status of each one.

Can I refer someone who already has a Wispr Flow account?

Email invitations are intended for new users. If an invite can't be sent, you'll see a generic "Invite could not be sent" message — this can also occur if the person was already referred by someone else. An existing user who hasn't been referred before may still apply a referral code using the "Apply referral" tab. You cannot refer yourself.

What does my referral screen look like based on my plan?

If you're an App Store subscriber or Team member, your referral screen shows "Refer and give rewards" instead of "Refer and earn rewards" — your friends still get a free month of Pro when they sign up through your link. If you're not yet subscribed, your earned referral credits are tracked and you'll see an option to upgrade to claim them.

My referral link looks different than expected — is it still valid?

Yes. Referral links now use a shorter format (wisprflow.ai/r?CODE instead of wisprflow.ai/referral/CODE). Both formats are valid — old saved links continue to work.

Limitations and notes

  • Referral rewards require a Pro or Student plan purchased through wisprflow.ai — not the App Store.

  • Each person can only be referred once, by one user.

  • Rewards activate after your friend dictates 2,000 words, then are applied automatically to your subscription.

  • You can send up to 2 reminders per pending invitee, with 24 hours between each reminder.

  • When you regenerate your referral code, your previous link stops working for new sign-ups.

  • Referral links use the format wisprflow.ai/r?CODE. Older links in the wisprflow.ai/referral/CODE format continue to work.

  • On iOS, you can open the referral screen at any time using the wispr-flow://open/referrals or wispr-flow://open/referral deep link — both formats are supported.

  • The "Apply referral" tab is only available to users who signed up without clicking a referral link and don't already have a referrer. It disappears once a code has been applied.

  • If you join or create a team while on a referral trial, your existing trial is preserved.
